The use of animals in medical emergencies is particularly controversial. Animals are treated as raw materials; their use is reminiscent of the dehumanisation of medicine, which pushes the moral value of both animal and human life into the background.

The main problem is that saving human lives eclipses ethical concerns about the mistreatment of animals. This practice leads to a bioethical dilemma: how far can one go to save human lives when the methods are unclear and at the expense of innocent animals?

Such artworks reflect a fusion of identities and invite us to reflect on the humanisation of animals and the animalisation of humans. They raise similar questions to Lambs’ Blood: where are the ethical boundaries when we enter the realm of transhumanism and genetic mixing?

These representations in art bring us back to the fundamental questions: What makes us human and what are we willing to sacrifice to prolong or enhance life? To what extent can we play with nature and creation? Such thought experiments and the merging of human and animal are deeply rooted in the fears and hopes of modern society, which are reflected in the work of artists.
